Star Achievement Award

Every year we present the Star Achievement Award for a person who has shown outstanding contribution to the society on stage.

This year it is awarded to a person who has been a stalwart for the society for many years.

They’ve played roles in numerous shows, whether in chorus or lately in main character roles.

Their ability to learn dance routines quickly is remarkable. Supporting others when they’re learning the steps.

They are usually one of the first in the cast to be off book.

Not only does this person perform on stage, but they also help in the box office on show week.

It gives us great pleasure in presenting the Star Achievement Award for her roles as Brenda Hulse (Calendar Girls) and Sylvia (Stepping out) to Laura-Jane Palmer-Farrar.

The Pauline Holt Award

This award is presented to someone who goes above and beyond in a ‘behind the scenes’ capacity.

This year the award is given to Dom Tolley.

Yes, we know he was on stage during the last show, however that was not through choice, he stepped in when we were short of men!

Originally, he was to assist Rob on the show from a directing point of view to get involved and gain experience, however the list of jobs he did was endless.

He did all the beautiful social media advertising, taking photos and videos, made props, did the get in, plotted lighting with Andrea, and after the show did the get out rather than party with the cast.

Even after his character was finished on stage, he chucked on his blacks and worked backstage to ensure the show ran smoothly. The week of the show his mum was really ill in hospital, and even when dealing with that he was determined not to let the show down. Rob is grateful for all the work he put in, his assistance was invaluable. His contribution to the production was above and beyond what was expected of any member of the society.
